If this is your first time with MewFM, follow these steps to make a sound.
Steps
- Insert MewFM on an instrument track in your DAW.
- Set the DAW’s MIDI channel to Ch 1 and play some notes.
- By default, Ch 1 is FM and Ch 7 is SSG — a PC-98-style layout.
- Click Ch 1 in the channel strip at the top of the plug-in.
- The tone editor below switches to Ch 1’s settings (4-OP values, AHDSR, filter, and so on).
- Tweak the parameters to shape the sound.
- Changes apply in real time, even while MIDI is playing.
MIDI channel assignment
MIDI Ch N maps directly to MewFM Ch N (1:1). All 16 channels can have their own tone and output routing.

To make every channel FM, right-click a channel button → Engine → FM. Leaving Ch 10–16 as Off makes MewFM ignore input on those MIDI channels.
