MewFM is a VST3 / standalone synth whose sound engine approximates the FM, SSG, and ADPCM sections of the YAMAHA YM2608 (OPNA), extended for DAW use.
Each channel can be set to FM, SSG, ADPCM, or Off independently, so you can build anything from the classic PC-98-style FM×6 + SSG×3 to FM×16 or FM×8 + SSG×3 + ADPCM×5, arranged freely for the scene at hand.

Highlights
- 16 channels, freely assigned — FM / SSG / ADPCM / Off in any layout
- Per-channel MIDI ch 1–16 routing (multi-timbral)
- Four stereo para-outs (Out A / B / C / D)
- FM — 4 operators × 8 algorithms
- SSG — Tone / Noise / Hardware Envelope (chip-shared)
- ADPCM — 4-bit ADPCM-B encoded + pitched sampler
- Variable slots per channel (drum kits / multisamples)
- Key Range / Transpose / Pitched / AHDSR / loop / LoFi mode
- Per-voice software envelope (AHDSR) — Volume / Filter
- Per-voice software LFO (4 in parallel) — Pitch / Volume / Pan / Filter / Op TL (FM)
- Per-voice filter — LP / HP / BP / Notch
- VelMap / KeyMap for per-parameter automatic modulation
- Preset slots — 16 banks × 128 = 2048 each (FM / SSG / ADPCM)
- MIDI Program Change for slot switching (with a CC 102 fallback for Cubase)
- FMP / PMD / MUCOM text tone-definition import (FM tones only)
- Reverb / Chorus shared FX bus
Relationship to the YM2608
MewFM approximates the behavior of the YM2608’s FM, SSG, and ADPCM sections (it is not a bit-exact emulator). The YM2608’s rhythm section is not implemented. Instead, you can build drum kits from your own samples using the ADPCM sampler.
