Kengeki

Kengeki (剣戟) is a generative metallic-foley instrument modelled on a katana. Using no samples, it generates the sound of striking (an impact plus the metal ringing) and scraping (a metallic scrape) in real time through physical modelling.

Play the on-screen blade — click to strike, drag to scrape — or drive it from MIDI. Runs as VST3 + Standalone on Windows / macOS.

Highlights

  • No samples, pure physical modelling — modal synthesis and friction simulation generate strikes and scrapes in real time.
  • Play the on-screen blade directly — click to strike, drag to scrape. Contact point, speed, and vertical position drive timbre and dynamics.
  • MIDI playable — notes trigger strikes (pitch → L/R blade position → timbre, velocity → strength); CC1 drives a scrape.
  • Three parameter sections — IMPACT (strike), BODY (metal ring), SPACE (reverb).
  • Presets — select and save from the header (individual XML files).
  • Format — VST3 + Standalone (works in any VST3 host).
  • OS — Windows 10 / 11, macOS 12+ (Apple Silicon / Intel universal).
